LAZARO PUIG
Lazaro Puig’s series, “Powers,” offers an elaborate perspective on the major powers of our society: Church, Government, Justice and Education.
Through mixed media art, Puig employs multiple mediums, strategic placement and thoughtful metaphors to convey his message. His portrayal of a tree refers to the tree of life. Used in science, religion, philosophy, and mythology, this serves as a metaphor for evolution.
Depicting a young woman as his subject matter is a reference to the empowerment of our youth and in all of Lazaro’s works the educational institutions are strategically placed lower than the other societal powers; a reference to the importance most governments place on education.
The complexity of meaning deliberately embedded in his works illustrates Puig’s passion for exploring the underlying intricacies of society.
