JORGE SILVESTER
Jorge Silvestre is an artist born in Dominican Republic’s third largest city, La Romana. Beginning his art ventures at a young age, Silvestre’s passion for painting took him to the respected art school, Escuela de Altos Chavon, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Silvestre’s love of Mangroves is reflected throughout his works. Mangroves grow in the saline coastal sediment habitats in the tropics and subtropics. Aside from the aesthetically appealing nature of Mangroves, Silvestre appreciates what they represent. These trees and shrubs have the ability not only to survive, but beautifully flourish in a territory where living things are not designed to thrive. These organisms’ ability to adapt and blossom in the most challenging of environments serves as the inspiration for Silvestre’s series.
